Cardinals’ Carson Palmer will play in 2017: ‘I’m ready to get back to work’

Carson Palmer isn’t ready to call it a career yet.

After mulling his retirement, the Cardinals quarterback on Thursday informed team president Michael Bidwill he will play in 2017.

At this point, it’s unclear if the Cowboys want to keep Romo around as an extremely expensive backup, attempt to trade him, or release him.

“We don’t know anything,” Candice Romo said. “We know just as much as you guys, and for a type-A planner personality, it doesn’t bode well. And I’m sure when we do [know something], Tony will be the guy to tell you.”

Candice also isn’t sure if she would uproot her family to follow her husband somewhere else.

“We just don’t know,” Candice said. “There’s so many variables and things that can take place that my mom has always said, ‘You just don’t cross that bridge until you get there.’ And I just don’t really worry about it until it comes. We’re not really worried about it. We’re just going to see it as it comes.”

If this is the end of Romo’s football career, Candice joked he could be a D.J. or even an actor. It wouldn’t be the first time a retired athlete caught the acting bug, and seeing Romo on the Cheap Islanders Jerseys big screen would be interesting, to say the least.

The Romos already are parents to Hawkins, 4, and Rivers, 2.

Redskins franchise tag Kirk Cousins for second straight year

You like that new deal Kirk Cousins?

The quarterback’s agent, Mike McCartney, announced Tuesday the Redskins placed their franchise tag on the veteran quarterback for the second cosecutive year to keep him in Washington Wholesale Jerseys NFL another season.

Carter, 37, was the No. 7 overall pick by the 49ers in the 2001 NFL Draft. He played there for five seasons before going to Washington on a lucrative free-agent contract. He played there for another five years.

Carter continued to flourish after he signed with New England in 2011, earning his first and only Pro Bowl berth during a 10-sack campaign that was truncated by injury. Carter then played with Oakland (2012) before returning to the Patriots in 2013 to finish his NFL career.

Carter spent the 2015 season as a student assistant coach at his alma mater Cal.

The Dolphins are seeking a new assistant defensive line coach after Jim Washburn left the team following the end of the season.

With six junior quarterbacks having declared for the 2017 NFL Draft, the most ever, NFL teams won’t be passing on the position altogether, but many may be more patient USA Cheap Jerseys than in recent years.

Watson will be the primary storyline from a network programming standpoint. But I actually don’t think NFL teams are as divisive as some have made it seem. Some in the NFL are huge fans of Watson on and off the field.

Most I’ve spoken with like the majority of his game, but they have questions as to whether he’s worth a top 10 pick, and for now, I agree. He won’t check the boxes character/leadership-wise in the same way Carson Wentz, Dak Prescott and Marcus Mariota have in recent years.

NFL free agency 2017: DeMarcus Ware eyeing return to Cowboys, report says

Free-agent defensive end DeMarcus Ware is entertaining the idea of returning to the Cowboys, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported, citing an unidentified source.

Ware, who’ll turn 35 in July, played the first nine seasons of his career in Dallas, becoming the franchise’s all-time sacks leader with 117.

Instead, he plans to stand next season for the anthem.

Kaepernick drew widespread criticism first for sitting during “The Star-Spangled Banner” before 49ers’ preseason games and then kneeling during the anthem before the Niners’ last preseason game and all 16 regular-season games.

But he also drew support from, among others, teammates and other NFL players, as well as athletes nationwide from high schoolers to pros.

His San Francisco teammates recognized him after the season, voting him the winner of the team’s Len Eshmont Award, the 49ers’ highest franchise honor awarded to the player who “best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play” and named in honor of an original member of the 1946 49ers team.

“It wasn’t a diss or anything like that,” Watson told reporters Cheap Qld Reds Jerseys Friday at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Cowboys quarterback Jason Garrett attended the O’Brien Award banquet Cheap Real Jerseys and Watson suggested the Cowboys trade both Tony Romo and Dak Prescott to the Browns so the Cowboys could then select Watson with the No. 1 overall pick.

We’re trying to make each other better

Williams also said the competition at receiver doesn’t come with “bad blood.” This is a group that works with Philip Rivers, who has four straight 4,000-yard seasons. Mike Williams played a pivotal role in Clemson’s national championship last season. Allen is coming off a torn ACL, and Inman is out until training camp after undergoing core surgery. Williams said all of them have the potential to be a No. 1 receiver.

“We’re trying to make each other better,” Tyrell Williams said. “I feel like we’re going to put up a lot of points.”

For Williams, it’s about building on the momentum he created the last two seasons. As a rookie, he made a statement in Week 16 with two catches for 90 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter against Kansas City. Last year, he took advantage of that opportunity to become a consistent big-play receiver. How consistent?

Williams was one of eight receivers with 19 catches of 20 yards or more last season. The others were T.Y. Hilton, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, Amari Cooper, Beckham, Jordy Nelson and DeSean Jackson. While it might seem like an undrafted free agent from Western Oregon does not belong in the conversation, Williams doesn’t see it that way.

It’s far more important, it seems, to look good to the fans at a time that it means the absolute least. Not even the Panthers, including coach Ron Rivera, are all that concerned. The football-starved public appear to be the only ones going overboard about Benjamin.

Which is why those same people can be fed live Combine workouts, prime-time schedule release Cheap Jerseys Throwback shows, three days of the draft and five weeks of preseason games, and still beg for more.

Because they have the capacity to wag a finger at an NFL player for not being in shape in the middle of May, for a workout he could have completely skipped but did not.

To those people, we prescribe this: baseball every night, Stanley Cup Final next Monday, NBA Finals next Thursday.

Michael Bennett inspired by Chance the Rapper to donate 2017 endorsements

Michael Bennett has announced plans to donate all his endorsement money to help children in minority communities in 2017.

Bennett, who already does considerable work fighting childhood obesity through his organization, “The Bennett Foundation,” also called on athletes to use their stage and means to help make differences in communities throughout the country.

“I’m asking all professional athletes to join me by donating a portion of your endorsements this year to a cause of your choice,” Bennett said. “We can make a difference. It’s up to us to help plant seeds of hope and help fuel the future.”

“Well in all sincerity, Marshawn’s been in Canada,” Hendrickson said. “I’m due to see him this week. So he and I have not spoken about this at all. So it was the media who took the ball and kind ran with it. He’s one of the most unique guys I’ve ever been with in my life. Marshawn, it wouldn’t shock me in three days if he says, ‘Hey, I want to play.’ It wouldn’t shock me if he says, ‘Nah, I don’t know where this came from. I don’t want to play.’

Between Lynch’s endorsements and his company, Beast Mode, he isn’t hurting for cash. If Lynch does return, it would be for the love of the game, according to Hendrickson.

“He doesn’t spend any of the money he’s made. He’s got a lot of money,” Hendrickson said. “He does miss football, no question. He loves the game of football. He’s 30. But until I meet with him this week, you know, I don’t know what his mindset is. He’s the kind of guy Cheap Jerseys Zoom that can shift by the hour.”

Joe Mixon among 40 rookies to participate in NFLPA ‘premiere’

The NFL players union isn’t shying away from controversial Bengals draft pick Joe Mixon.

In fact, Mixon will be among 40 players expected to attend the NFLPA’s “Rookie Premiere” later this week in Los Angeles, the union announced Monday.

The Bengals’ selection of Mixon was roundly Cheap Jerseys NCAA criticized because he punched a woman in the face as a freshman at Oklahoma in 2014, breaking her jaw. Mixon, who recently settled a civil suit with the woman, was suspended for a year by the Sooners and, as part of a plea deal, was placed on probation for a year and required to complete 100 hours of community service.

Brandy Volquez, 25, got into an argument in a barber shop in the El Cafe de Herrera sector in Santo Domingo Oeste, according to Quisqueyanos En Los Deportes. Volquez, who leaves behind five children, died from multiple stab wounds. The fight also sent one of his alleged assailants to the hospital while another was detained by local police, according to CDN.

“I don’t think they were bad people,” Volquez said of his brother’s alleged killers. “(Brandy) had a family and it’s shameful what happened last night. I hope justice is served.”

Volquez’s father died from heart disease during the 2015 World Series at the age of 63. He left the Royals to attend his father’s funeral and then returned to pitch in Game 5 as Kansas City closed out the Mets to win the World Series for the first time since 1985.

Volquez signed a two-year deal with the Marlins in late November with the contract becoming official on Dec. 1.

Dodgers P Scott Kazmir leaves spring start as hip issue flares anew

Dodgers pitcher Scott Kazmir will be reevaluated Tuesday morning after he was forced from his start Monday with a sore left hip, an issue that dogged the lefthander in 2016.

One pitch into the second inning against the Rockies, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts went to the mound with a trainer and Kazmir was immediately pulled from his second outing of the spring, according to multiple reports.

“The frustration is through the roof right now,” he said (via the Los Angeles Times).

“From having that [oblique] injury, I think you can go back to what it felt like before when something happened,” Matheny said, via MLB.com . “Like he said, it [felt like] a precursor. That made him concerned that he better not let it go. He went in thinking it wasn’t that big of a deal and then realized that there’s something going on that he has to get to.”

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported Pirates infielder Josh Harrison is the likely replacement for Carpenter on the WBC roster.

Cards’ trainers have given Carpenter a green light for work in the field at first base, but he is not swinging the bat. There is no timeline for his return to Grapefruit League games.

And that’s exactly the point Harris County judge Ed Emmett tried to make with the Texas Historical Commission during a recent hearing on the Astrodome.

“As a Texan, if you’re not going to designate Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping the Astrodome, other than the Alamo and the Capitol and some of those buildings, what are you ever going to designate?” Emmett said, via Click2Houston.com.

the Nationals lost out to the Cubs in attempting to pry All-Star Wade Davis from the Royals in a trade.

Major League Baseball, long a leading opponent to sports betting, is considering loosening its hard stance on the issue in the name of regulating a multibillion dollar industry that operates largely unchecked.

Such a change would represent a significant shift for MLB, which through its history has been wracked by a number of high-profile betting scandals involving players.

Most notably, MLB all-time hits leader Pete Rose is banned for life from baseball for betting on games when he was a manager for the Reds in the 1980s. The topic resurfaced last year as Rose made his case for reinstatement, but was denied by Manfred.

Increasingly, though, professional sports leagues have dealt with the blurred lines of sports gambling with a rise in popularity of fantasy sports.

All indications are they wanted to keep Mark Melancon, who finished 2016 as Washington’s closer after coming over from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline, but he signed a four-year, $62 million deal with the Giants in December.

Around that time, the Nationals lost out to the Cubs in attempting to pry All-Star Wade Davis from the Royals in a trade.

Kenley Jansen then revealed that he was close to taking the Nationals’ four-year offer in December before the Dodgers upped the ante to five years, $80 million, compelling him to stay in L.A.

The Nationals even missed out on Davis’ predecessor with the Royals, Greg Holland, who missed all of 2016 after having Tommy John surgery. He signed with the Rockies last Cheap Jerseys Basketball week.

Colby Rasmus: MLB doesn’t ‘necessarily like long hair and the redneck folks’

Colby Rasmus signed a one-year deal worth $5 million with the Rays on Monday, but he doesn’t seem too happy about MLB in general.

The mercurial outfielder, known best for his long hair and occasional home runs, had some interesting thoughts on MLB’s attitude toward players like him.

“You know how the game is,” Rasmus said, via tampabay.com. “In ‘the Show,’ they don’t necessarily like long hair and the redneck folks. That’s just the way it goes. I just try to play the game how I play it. I play hard. I play the game kind of (all) out, and rough, so I’ve hurt myself along the way. When it comes to injuries, they set you back for awards like that.

Fernandez and two friends died in a boating accident in September and the Marlins pitcher was recently deemed at fault for the accident. Investigators said he was driving the boat and speeding, and toxicology reports determined cocaine and a high level of alcohol were in his system Cheap Hockey Jerseys Custom at the time of the crash.

Marlins president David Samson said the organization still plans on going through with building the 9-foot statue, saying a person’s legacy shouldn’t be built on their transgressions.

“People make mistakes, mistakes have consequences but it doesn’t change what Jose meant to the Marlins, what he meant to Miami, what he meant to the community,” Samson said. “The fact is he will always be a Marlin that doesn’t change. When you love somebody you love them when things are good and when things are bad.”

Padres ‘deeply disappointed’ in Chargers move from San Diego

A four-time batting champ, two-time American League MVP, 2012 Triple Crown winner and World Series winner with the Marlins, Cabrera looks poised to finish with 3,000 hits, 500 home runs and a batting average safely over .300.

To some voters, Cabrera might appear to be a great bat and little else. His defense leaves something to be desired. And by sabermetrics, such as his 39.6 Wins Above Average or 69.6 WAR, Cabrera appears on track to be a solid Hall of Fame selection, but far from the best player ever. He’ll likely be a first-ballot selection, but not terribly close to 100 percent.

San Diego is down to one major professional sports team with the Chargers announcing Thursday a move to Los Angeles.

While the Padres now figure to be the draw of the city, they are still upset with the Chargers’ decision to move north.

“We are deeply disappointed by the news that the Chargers are leaving San Diego,” Padres chairman Ron Fowler and managing partner Peter Seidler said in a joint statement. “The Chargers Cheap Fan Jerseys are a community treasure, and we have always believed that San Diego is better off with the team here. That said, we know San Diego will continue to grow and become an even more vibrant community.”

With beautiful Petco Park still relatively new, the Padres, who have been in San Diego since 1969, are here to stay.
