Cardinals’ Carson Palmer will play in 2017: ‘I’m ready to get back to work’

Carson Palmer isn’t ready to call it a career yet.

After mulling his retirement, the Cardinals quarterback on Thursday informed team president Michael Bidwill he will play in 2017.

At this point, it’s unclear if the Cowboys want to keep Romo around as an extremely expensive backup, attempt to trade him, or release him.

“We don’t know anything,” Candice Romo said. “We know just as much as you guys, and for a type-A planner personality, it doesn’t bode well. And I’m sure when we do [know something], Tony will be the guy to tell you.”

Candice also isn’t sure if she would uproot her family to follow her husband somewhere else.

“We just don’t know,” Candice said. “There’s so many variables and things that can take place that my mom has always said, ‘You just don’t cross that bridge until you get there.’ And I just don’t really worry about it until it comes. We’re not really worried about it. We’re just going to see it as it comes.”

If this is the end of Romo’s football career, Candice joked he could be a D.J. or even an actor. It wouldn’t be the first time a retired athlete caught the acting bug, and seeing Romo on the Cheap Islanders Jerseys big screen would be interesting, to say the least.

The Romos already are parents to Hawkins, 4, and Rivers, 2.
